The Outer Hebrides is an exciting place to visit and we loved our trip to the island. Even in winter it is worth visiting as the island is home to many migrant birds which are everywhere. In summer you have days that give you 20 hours of daylight, long days for trout fishing or simply relaxing and getting away from it all. You can drive down to the beautiful island of Harris which is separated from the Isle of Lewis by a mountain range. Harris has fantastic sandy beaches and is less populated than the Isle of Lewis. The Ferry trip from Ullapool to Stornoway takes around 4 hours and this makes it a different holiday as you do feel you are about to explore a remote area of the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
